2022 Strategy Session Summary – The C3 Community

For our inaugural 2022 Answer the Call to Conscious Leadership event, we had a C3 (Corporate Consciousness Co-op) Live 2022 Strategy Session and had a hoot with Kahoot.  Thank you to everyone who played with us.

My C3 co-manager and ATCCL co-host, Lawrence Henderson, and I want this to be a year of full engagement in the C3 community, and we wanted to be more strategic about delivering opportunities and content that set our members up for optimal co-creation so that we can go further faster together to spread conscious leadership this year and beyond.

During the Kahoot, our live audience shared:

  • Their word or theme for 2022
  • What they have been doing to build mission-based communities
  • Their most-wanted speakers and panelists
  • The top conscious leadership topics that they are working on

We also made the following calls to action on behalf of the community:

  • Join C3 and commit to leveling up your professional development to that of a co-creator of conscious professional development. Perhaps you haven’t joined C3 yet because the overwhelm of surviving the last couple of years left you with nothing left to give, and I completely get that! We can’t give from an empty tank. Consider, however, that the C3 community is also a fill-up station where you can get what you need to give more. I can tell you that throughout 2021, I was much stronger and bolder because I had this community and my co-creators with me. We are better together!
  • Invite other conscious co-creators to the C3 community – Every conscious leader knows at least three other people who share their mission (and frustration). Invite them to join C3 and have them be a part of the movement. It feels so much better to be in action to create a better world and to be at cause instead of being at effect.
  • Share your secret sauce – We know that you have valuable wisdom and conscious leadership successes under your belt that will inspire and enlighten our members. Promote yourself! We are here for that.
  • Celebrate your wins with us – Our members are doing amazing things all the time – speaking on panels, getting certified, publishing books, landing fellowships. The more you accomplish, the more our members know what’s possible. Let us share in your excitement.
  • Jump in – If a topic calls to you or if there is a speaker you have been wanting to hear and connect with, co-host an event in and for the C3 community. It’s a great reason to reach out to people you admire, and it’s yet another way to strengthen your bond with people, expand your co-creation network, and perhaps plant seeds for future opportunities.
  • Help us make ConCon2022 the ultimate conscious leadership level-up experience. Co-create it with us! The time to start planning is already upon us. Be a founding party to what we expect will become the capstone of corporate consciousness and be at the forefront as an accelerator for consciousness worldwide.

Make this the year that you stand up, speak up, and spread goodness into the voids of the professional realm. Shine your light. Spread your impact. We don’t know what might stop us tomorrow, so start today.

Join C3 and engage in the community now.

Disrupting the Status Quo – Answer The Call To Conscious Leadership

For the last month of 2021, we finally covered a topic that I have been rooting for since the beginning of the year, Disrupting the Status Quo. It’s actually such a wide topic that we could turn it into a monthly feature and tackle it from various angles and relating to many different industries and, within those industries, individual systems, and further still how those systems interact.

The common focus of our panelists during our discussion of the topic this month was talent. Toni Lorraine Johnson is a storyteller, relationship currency negotiator, HR and OD expert, and Ph.D. candidate studying the obstacles that inhibit black female entrepreneurs from scaling their businesses. Ira Wolfe is Chief Googlization Officer at Success Performance Solutions, TedX Speaker, and Best Selling Author on the future of work who has helped companies improve their access to talent.

Join the C3 Community today to watch the replay to see what our answers were these compelling questions, and more:

  • What were some of the technologies of the past 15 years that have disrupted our daily lives?
  • What are the biggest areas in need of disruption?
  • Where is the most logical place to start disrupting talent?
  • From what kind of training would all hiring managers benefit?
  • Is disruption an accurate term for what is really needed?
  • How can some of the technologies be better utilized to screen quality in talent acquisition?
  • What do companies regularly do a horrible job at that inhibits the quality of hires?
  • What are the major challenges of disruption and how can leaders overcome them?
  • How can we become more welcoming of change?
  • What quality do we laud as highly valuable, yet makes it harder for us to unlearn bad behaviors? How do we find balance?
  • What is the source of our attachment and the key to unlocking it?
  • What needs to change before an organization can change?
  • What makes people more apt to adapt?
  • How do applicants navigate the contradiction of being confident and being vulnerable and authentic?
  • What are the 5 skills critical to adaptability?
  • Besides having the right people, how does a company create the right conditions and culture for change?
  • What is the #1 predictor of career satisfaction and life success?
  • What is a psychological contract?
  • What question can leaders ask their team members early on that will help them navigate change better?

Lawrence and I are meeting tomorrow to craft our vision for C3 in 2022. It’s hard to believe that we are about to enter a whole new year. I’m sure many share both my trepidation and yet hope, that we are collectively better prepared to navigate whatever next year may hand us. I’m thankful for the C3 community, full of people who are poised to lead others forward through whatever may come and willing to learn and teach to better prepare us all.

Winner Announced for the Inaugural C3 Conscious Leadership Award

On behalf of the C3 (Corporate Consciousness Co-op) community, Lawrence Henderson and I were pleased to announce and congratulate Dr. Pamela Larde for earning our inaugural Conscious Leadership Award.

On Saturday, November 6th, following a panel discussion on Different Ways to Approach Corporate Transformation, Lawrence and I, also joined by fellow panelist Michael Taylor, CEO of Schelling Point, announced at the Consciousness Conference (ConCon) that the C3 Awards Committee chose Dr. Pamela for “both the quality of impact she has on her community and the number of people that have been positively impacted,” according to ConCon Awards Committee chair, Lindsey Ackerman.

Dr. Pamela Larde, Founder of the Academy of Creative Coaching, with the 1st ever C3 Conscious Leadership Award, presented November 6th, 2021 at ConCon.

Jay Hurt, COO of the Academy of Creative Coaching (ACC) who nominated Dr. Larde said, “Dr. Larde is a leader that empowers everyone around her to be autonomous without the fear of making mistakes. Instead, she fosters working to get better… Dr. Larde is 100% supportive of our goals and works with me each day to help the team develop ways to implement initiatives and achieve goals. Dr. Larde is inspiring in the work she does for women and specifically women of color.”

My fellow C3 and ConCon Co-Founder, Lawrence Henderson, one of 320 diverse graduates of the ACC, also nominated Dr. Larde. He reflected, “As the President and Founder and one of the only minority woman-owned International Coaching Federation Accredited Coaching academies, Dr. Pam inspires students and faculty to dream and be active participants in all that they do. Dr. Pam’s ability to know how she shows up in spaces, transcend her own realities and stay focused on why she does what she does is so inspiring. She is truly a conscious servant leader who challenges by doing her work and having an expectation of that from all those around her.”

In addition to leading the ACC, which she founded in 2013, Henderson notes that Dr. Larde has been “strongly committed to education and research. [She] spent twelve years in student leadership development at the Claremont Colleges and Marquette University, eleven years as a professor of research at Mercer University’s Tift College of Education, and was recently appointed Associate Professor of Leadership for Anderson University’s PhD Leadership Program.

‘Her research focuses on race and gender dynamics, self-motivation, joy resilience, and posttraumatic growth. She is a member of the International Leadership Association, the International Association for Relationship Research, the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators, the American College Personnel Association, the National Incarceration Association, and Exceptional Women in Publishing.

‘Dr. Larde has remained committed to serving the community through initiatives that include working with Morris Brown College as a partner in their successful, unprecedented re-accreditation process. Her team provided training for board members, developed their all-online program in response to COVID-19, and assisted with the writing of the accreditation documents. Internationally, the Academy of Creative Coaching is in partnership with a prison to offer pro-bono coach training and certification to inmates and employees.

‘With a heart to amplify the voices of the often unheard who have compelling stories and wisdom to impart, Dr. Larde has created two platforms that provide access to publication and broadcasting to emerging influencers. She is the founder and president of Tandem Light Press, a publishing company committed to publishing award-winning books written for women and by women; and her podcast, recently renamed The Joy Whisperer, is a platform for discussion that covers issues concerning humanity, intellect, change, and of course… joy.”

It is evident that Dr. Larde doesn’t only set a high bar for conscious leaders to reach, she has built multiple ladders to help more leaders reach it and has championed a community of leaders who will help ever more professionals up to the high road of heart-led, humanity-first leadership. I can hardly imagine who could follow her as our next C3 Conscious Leadership Award recipient, but I look forward to discovering and promoting more amazing forces of positive change just like her for next year’s award.

Different Ways to Approach Corporate Transformation

Though the ConCon session recordings are still to come, our panel on Different Ways to Approach Corporate Transformation went live on Saturday and is available to all.

Lawrence Henderson and I welcomed Michael Taylor of SchellingPoint and Dr. Pamela Larde of the Academy of Creative Coaching to talk about the studies, data, research, and practice that has gone into each of their approaches to helping clients successfully navigate change initiatives to bring about conscious transformation.

It was fascinating to learn where their approaches, one being very data-driven and one being humanity-driven, overlapped and contrasted, and how they can integrate to bring about even greater success for corporate transformation.

I highly recommend that you spend an hour watching this amazing exchange of wisdom, and then tune into the end for the presentation of our inaugural Conscious Leadership Award!

Achieving Resilience and Beyond (With Antifragility) – Answer The Call To Conscious Leadership

Resilience isn’t just a leadership skill; it’s a survival skill. Despite what I first thought when I heard the phrase, anti-fragility is not being impervious to negative emotions, but rather using adversity as an opportunity to become even better and to make conditions, products, processes, systems, and conditions even better.

Stanley H. Greene, Global Human and Economic Development Leader, was highly recommended in 2020 as a valuable resource on resilience by Dr. Laura Dowling, who you might remember was our expert panelist on toxic positivity a few months ago.

Since then, I have attended Stanley’s Wednesday PowerThinking calls and highly recommend them, so I was thrilled to welcome him as the panelist for our discussion on achieving resilience and beyond (with antifragility). Go to our LinkedIn community for conscious leaders, C3, to watch the full replay of our event so you can learn more about the significant scientific findings Stanley shared on resilience and its applications to conscious leadership.

We discussed:

  • What it looks like to be a leader with resilience.
  • What are the risks when resilience is lacking?
  • What is at the core of how people get through hard times?
  • How can one escape the condition of learned helplessness and build resilience?
  • The 7 common-sense inner strengths that resilient people have (and that we all have to a certain degree) that can help us prevent learned helplessness and bounce back from adversity faster.
  • How you can take that first next step toward resilience, especially if resilience seems unattainable in the moment.
  • How building resilience works (in your brain).
  • How a leader keeps toxic positivity in check while continuing to develop the resilience of the team.

Watch the replay by joining C3 today. Inside of C3, you can comment and ask Stan any questions you have since he’s also a member. Join him for weekly PowerThinking calls. Keep in mind that the more resilient you become today, the better you can lead your teams through the challenges of tomorrow.

I know it’s been many weeks since I have shared pure value-add content, or so it may seem. ConCon is fast approaching, and the bulk of my time has been making sure that the speakers, the content, and the experience altogether, are transformative.

I hope you’ll understand that by promoting ConCon, I am promoting value. Register today. Every day, we are making updates to the agenda to give you the best speaker, session, panel, and keynote information.

I have a backlog of great topics and I will get back to these articles soon. For now, the single most important thing I feel I can do to advance corporate consciousness is to continue to level up the value of ConCon, and to get people there who will take the content and the contacts they make there, and use it out in the world. So, if you are available on November 5th and/or 6th, or if you can allocate time within the 8 weeks after it to watch the replays, then register now.  If you can’t, then please share it with leaders and aspiring leaders you know who are committed to continual growth and development.

Thanks in advance for all you do to raise corporate consciousness for a better world today and a better future for generations to come.

Who Is the Most Conscious Leader You Know?

Who is the most conscious leader you know?

Has there been a leader in your life you wish you could duplicate? Perhaps there’s someone that you wish more people could learn from, be mentored by, be inspired by.

This is your chance to gift them the recognition they deserve while also shining a spotlight on their impact and example for many other leaders.

Does the word conscious throw you off? Let me clarify this a bit.

Conscious leaders are self-aware, empathetic, authentic, and make decisions for the highest good. They are courageous enough to stand alone in being willing to do the right thing, even if it doesn’t benefit them directly. In fact, sometimes the careers of these conscious leaders suffer when they find acting within their values conflicts with an organization’s culture or pursuit of profit.

Sometimes, not only is there little incentive to do the right thing, but there can often be a detriment. It’s critically important that we positively reinforce leaders when they choose to act with integrity for the highest good, and that we make their example more visible to more leaders. At ConCon (the Consciousness Conference), we want to make sure that when one door closes for these conscious leaders, there are plenty of windows for them to shine through so that they can continue to expand their conscious impact, visibility, and evolution.

Take a few minutes to tell us about the most conscious leader in your life, and nominate them for the prestigious first-ever Conscious Leader Award!

Are You Ready for ConCon 2021?

If you believe big things can be done (and more importantly, that they can be done by you), we have big news for you! We are bringing together people just like you – conscious corporate leaders and conscious leadership practitioners – on Friday, November 5th and Saturday, November 6th for the Consciousness Conference (ConCon 2021).

I am so honored to be one of your hosts for this event, along with Lawrence Henderson, CEO of BOSS Consulting, Inc.

You see, we have both been out there creating our own ripples of conscious change for corporations, helping them prioritize people and the planet alongside profits, the quintessential triple bottom line. Why? Because it’s proven to stop people from walking out your door and taking your knowledge capital with them. It’s proven to stop the bleeding of profit when that talent walks out the door – the person who knew your model, your operations, your product or service, and more importantly, your customer. You then have to spend money replacing that person with someone new, onboarding that new person, and paying that new person more.

Conscious leadership has also been proven to stop the bleeding of healthcare costs. The mental health of your employees must be your priority if you want to keep your talent and keep them happy and safe. The great resignation is upon us and it’s a reckoning for employers who have been lacking conscious leadership.

Moreover, the problems that we face as companies, as people, and as a planet are not slowing down. These issues are gaining power and momentum. We need to come together to have a chance at victory.

Last year, Lawrence and I decided to put our ripples together and to find others like you, who have also been making ripples so that we can co-create a larger, more powerful conscious change to give us our best chance at moving forward in spite of all the challenges that face us. Each month, we’ve brought conscious leaders together to share their secret sauce for getting the very best results, increasing innovation, and most importantly, scaling conscious change.

ConCon will be our annual concentrated consciousness training co-creation event, where you will level up your conscious leadership alongside other people who feel as strongly as you do that it’s up to us to co-create a better world.

It’s up to us to transform the corporate landscape and make it more people and planet-friendly – and parent-friendly because our kids need us.
